Roberto Muttoni was born in Verona. He is graduated from the “A.Boito” Conservatory of Parma under the guide of Piero Toso and Franco Claudio Ferrari, two great masters of the Italian violin school, he is then perfected with Henryk Szering.
Since 1978 he has been holding the chair of principal Violin first at the Parma Conservatory and currently at the Verona Conservatory.
From 1977 to 1980 he had been part of “I Solisti Veneti” participating in tours and recordings record. As a soloist and in chamber ensembles he has given concerts for important ones concert institutions in Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Peru, Switzerland, Finland, Poland, Egypt, Greece, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Latvia and Romania.
In 1983 he formed the “Scaliger Trio” with which he holds concerts throughout Europe and recorded in first of all the Trios of F. Cilea, E.Lalo, A.Borodin.
From 1985 to 1998 he served as the first solo violin of the Urs Machler Ensemble and from 1995 to 1999 he was first violin of “Il Quintetto del Vittoriale” with which he dedicated himself to enhancement of the Italian chamber repertoire. Since 1994 he has been the conductor and solo violin of the “Serenissima Ensemble”. He has been invited to hold Violin and Chamber Music Master Classes at international courses in Florence, Stuttgart, Zagreb, Bucharest “G.Enescu University”, University of Jasi, University of Oradea (Romania), Conservatorio Superior de Mùsica de Vigo (Spain), Superior Conservatory of Music in La Coruna (Spain), Iugesund School of Music, Karlstsd University (Sweden), ESMAE – Escola superior de musica e artes do espectaculo in Porto (Portugal), Academy of Music ‘I.J. Paderewski ‘in Poznan (Poland), J. Vitola Latvijas muzikas akademija from Riga, Em. Darzina muzikas.

He records for “Sipario” in Milan, “Nuova Era”, “Accademia”, “Erato”, “Classic Art “,” Maxima Harmonia “,” Emera “and recorded live concerts for RAI, for Spanish Radio (Radio Clasica, RNE), Westdeuscher Rundfunk, Bayerische Rundfunk, French Radio and Belgian radio. Numerous of his compositions have been performed in Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany. He was the artistic director of the “Arena di Verona Foundation” and of the “Bel canto Foundation” of Lima (Peru).
