Fabrizio De Rossi Re is a composer and he was born in Rome on August 1, 1960. He studied at the Conservatory of S. Cecilia in Rome, graduating in Composition with Mauro Bortolotti and in Instrumentation for Band with Raffaello Tega. The meetings with jazz pianist Umberto Cesari, with Sylvano Bussotti (School of Fiesole) with Salvatore Sciarrino (Courses of Città di Castello) and more recently with Luciano Berio, were important for his training.De Rossi Re’s compositional production is characterized by an exploration that welcomes and combines various stylistically multiform experiences, always poised between direct communication and the linguistic heritage of experimentation. The practice and knowledge of different musical genres, from cultured tradition to jazz, have decisively influenced the development of his research, oriented towards a recognition of the expressive and communicative possibilities implicit in the most heterogeneous musical experiences. The ability to assimilate different musical techniques, and to carefully evaluate the potentials implicit in the most varied experiences gained by the twentieth century avant-gardes, results in the definition of an autonomous and personal language able to effectively combine the needs of experimentation with those of communication. The need to reconcile stimuli borrowed from different present and past traditions is placed in the framework of a careful re-examination of the historical heritage of techniques and compositional procedures, which de Rossi Re takes up and exploits properly in the context of his research for a new musical syntax achieved through the synthesis of the manifold. We remember the works of musical theater “Cesare Lombroso” with a libretto by A. Vianello; “Musica senza Cuore” with a libretto by F. Angeli with Paola Cortellesi; “Three for one” with Vittorio Sermonti up to the recent Representation for ancient instruments, choir and orchestra commissioned by the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and second research for the quartet of the Berliner Philarmoniker. And also the numerous works for the radio including: “Terranera”, radiofilm on text by Valerio Magrelli produced by RAI RadioTre directed by Giorgio Pressburger (1994); “War Gardens” daily strip of music and poetry on texts by Edoardo Albinati, produced by RAI RadioTre (1995); “Tre per una” (not to mention Ernani) on the text of Vittorio Sermonti on the occasion of the Verdi year (2001) “Il quadro di Buzzati” (2006) on the text of Luis Gabriel Santiago (on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Dino Buzzati);the music written for the dance: “The shadow inside the stone” group Entr’acte – production of Roma Europa Festival 1996 and of the Hebbel Theater of Berlin 1997). performance: “Elettrotauri” with libretto by Luis Gabriel Santiago (production: Spoleto, 2004) “Mysterium Cosmographicum” with libretto by Francesca Angeli inspired by the life and works of J.Keplero (production: Fermo, 2004) “Alatiel” (erotic melologist) -sentimental on the text of Luis Gabriel Santiago inspired by the Decamerone by G.
