Between International Projects and Music in the Woods to Speak of Peace and Mysticism

The doors reopen for the Assisi Suono Sacro Festival: this edition, bearing the emblematic title of Conversion, will feature three main stages.

The festival begins on July 23 at 9:30 PM within the enchanting walls of Villa Taticchi. The program includes Souvenir Lirique d’Italie with soprano Chiara Giudice, pianist Manuel Magrini, and the participation of Andrea Ceccomori. This highly lyrical moment will feature Italian bel canto tradition music, from Puccini to Rossini, masterfully interpreted by the soprano and interspersed with the sagacious melodies of Ceccomori’s flute.

The evening will also be an opportunity to present – and meet some of the protagonists – the Peacemusic project: stages and results of an Erasmus project in collaboration with the Madrid music university UAX, dedicated to laying the foundations for transforming music education into fertile ground for dialogue and, consequently, Peace. This project, which spans 2023 and concludes in 2024, involves students and teachers in an extensive program of training and exchange through masterclasses and concerts. One such event is a masterclass by Professor Alberto Urroz of UAX, scheduled for July 24, also at Villa Taticchi.

On July 28 at 11:00 PM, still at Villa Taticchi, the program includes Angels: Between Music and Mysticism, a work curated by Andrea Ceccomori dedicated to Angels, supernatural beings. To tell and dialogue with them, the ethereal flute was chosen, not by chance. The event will take place among the foliage of the villa’s ancient park along the banks of the Tiber River. With music and projections of images from ancient and more recent iconography, the audience will be welcomed into the woods and can freely participate in the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring cushions, mats, and blankets for those sensitive to the cold for the long night of angels, which will begin just before midnight.

On July 30, Assisi Suono Sacro closes with a concert at the Courtyard of the Sant’Antonio Elementary School on Via Sant’Agnese. The concert features New York conductor Jason Tramm, Polish soprano Dominika Zamara, and the Suonosfera Orchestra quartet, a longtime ensemble partner of the Festival. The program includes music from Mozart and Vivaldi to Rentowsky and Richter.
